Data Committee

The Data Committee brings together representatives from financial services firms, trade associations, the legal profession and data providers in order to ensure a competitive UK data regime post-Brexit. In order to achieve this, it is tasked with tracking and responding to developments in UK, Member State and EU data policies, regularly highlighting the need for consistency with international laws. With its cross-sectoral structure, the committee is well placed to engage with HMG officials, particularly from DCMS, and data regulators such as the ICO and EDPB.

Given the horizontal importance of the topic for all IRSG members, the workstream aims to:

  • Influence a UK regulatory framework on Data that reflects industry priorities
  • Support the UK to be a frontrunner in policy and regulation that influences the debate globally and delivers policy frameworks to facilitate innovation while upholding data protection principles
  • Ensure the UK drives the development of appropriate international standards on Data
